Athena wins Development of Outstanding Architectural Merit

23.10.20

PTE is delighted to see Athena announced as the winner of the Evening Standard New Homes Award for Development of Outstanding Architectural Merit. The project is part of Eddington, the University of Cambridge’s ambitious new community and the most significant expansion in the university’s 800-year history.

Athena draws on the cultural context of Cambridge and its eclectic architectural heritage – providing contemporary homes of character. The new neighbourhood includes apartments, courtyard and mews houses, terraced, semi-detached and detached houses carefully arranged in a fine network of tree-lined streets, mews, a car-free landscaped street, a new square and public and private open spaces.

Part of Athena’s richness comes from the bringing together and close collaborative working of two distinct but complementary practices – PTE and Alison Brooks Architects. Buildings by both practices are spread throughout the scheme, giving a natural vibrancy to the streets and places within the development.
