Peasecroft delivers seven new affordable homes in Cottered, Hertfordshire, replacing four outdated bungalows with a small, carefully arranged residential group. Developed for Clarion, the project provides five three‑bedroom houses and two two‑bedroom bungalows.
The scheme was designed to pilot the Future Homes Standard, testing different low‑carbon approaches within a single development. The houses follow a fabric‑first strategy with direct electric and infrared heating, while the bungalows use air source heat pumps.
Homes are arranged around a shared courtyard, drawing on the form and character of traditional Hertfordshire farm buildings. Simple massing, robust detailing, and a restrained material palette support high thermal performance and long‑term durability.
The project is supported by detailed monitoring and post‑occupancy evaluation, generating evidence to inform future housing delivery and standards across the wider programme - more info here.
