Half Acre delivers 111 new homes on the site of Brentford’s former police station, with 51 per cent affordable housing. Developed for Topland Group and the London Borough of Hounslow, the scheme combines housing with a new ground‑floor arts centre, creating a lively mixed‑use addition to the neighbourhood.

The arts centre provides a flexible venue for cultural and community uses and establishes a strong civic presence on the street. Designed in collaboration with the council and theatre specialists Foster Wilson Size, it is intended to support local creative activity and animate the public realm.

The architecture draws on Brentford’s character through a restrained, layered material palette. Two complementary brick tones break down the massing, while coloured glazed accents reference the nearby Beehive pub.

The scheme updates the original consent to meet current regulations, increases the number of homes, and improves thermal performance, strengthening the street’s civic role.
