Eastman Village (formerly Harrow View East) is an ambitious, multi-phased project on the former Kodak site in Harrow. PTE is delivering a complete new urban neighbourhood of over 2,000 homes plus workspace, retail and leisure uses within an outline planning permission previously prepared by others. The new homes will be a mix of tenures including extra care facilities.
Acting as masterplanner and lead designer, PTE coordinated a team of other architectural practices: Piercy & Company, East and Makower Architects. This approach has produced ‘harmonious diversity’ across the new neighbourhood, whilst maintaining streamlined delivery and economies of scale.
Phase 1 combines 460 new homes and a new park. Five urban blocks have been designed, ranging from three to ten storeys in height, arranged around a series of communal gardens.
Phase 2 will provide 350 new homes, a gym and community use, and introduces two distinctive buildings at either end of the park, designed to improve the legibility of the masterplan, and includes car parking podiums to enable additional green spaces, including new public outdoor space and communal gardens.
Phase 3 will provide over 1,200 new homes plus café, community and commercial uses.
