Co-location and mixed-use

Successful mixed-use development requires the resolution of technical and management issues to enable different users to co-exist harmoniously. The benefits are many: more effective use of land; an animated townscape; shared capital and management costs and the potential to cross-subsidise community space with commercial and residential development.

Many of our projects involve the integration of different uses within a building complex or across a neighbourhood, combining homes with workspace, shops, leisure, health and community facilities. Among the models we have pioneered are the building of homes above schools and, for town centre regeneration, combining cinema screens and leisure space with apartments.
