Spillers Mill, CB1
Cambridge City Council commissioned a masterplan for the comprehensive redevelopment of a 10-hectare site around Station Road to the south-east of the town centre, and Pollard Thomas Edwards has developed a detailed scheme for one phase of this masterplan.
This includes the conversion of Spillers Mill into apartments, and the creation of four new apartment blocks.
Spillers Mill is a late nineteenth century industrial building which is classified as a Building of Local Interest. Our approach is to remove poor quality additions, to reinstate the original parapet line, and to maintain the existing window detail: original double-height openings at street level will be exploited to provide double-height commercial space.
Nineteen spacious apartments for private sale will be created on the upper floors, including duplexes and penthouses – one of which will extend upwards into the original turret.
Four new six- to seven-storey apartment blocks providing 150 mixed tenure flats, are now complete. They overlook an informal green space which forms the heart of the development.
