On this triangular site we have created 38 affordable and shared ownership homes.
The scheme consists of two terraces which define the perimeter of the site and which continue and reinstate the line of the original terrace of Victorian houses on Riversdale Road, stitching together broken street frontages. The scheme rises from three-storey family houses to five storeys at its eastern end, where upper floor flats over family maisonettes are oriented to capture views over Clissold Park. The southern terrace consists of six two- and three-storey family houses.
The scheme includes 22 large family houses and maisonettes, as well as 16 flats. Most of the houses and maisonettes have four bedrooms and all have ground-floor entrances and private back gardens. The main living rooms and gardens are primarily south facing, with only four single aspect flats – all of which face south.
The two terraces surround a communal garden which is shared with the residents of the adjacent Riversdene flats. These communal gardens can be accessed from the back gardens of the houses and maisonettes, as well as from the rear entrance to the flats, and contain play areas for children.
