Carl Vann is an equity partner at PTE and heads up one of our design workshops delivering projects from concept to completion. He manages a portfolio of clients and projects, served by a team of architects and urban designers. He is personally involved in the design strategy and planning process.
Carl has over 20 years’ experience in the housing, mixed-use and regeneration sectors, and has both designed and delivered a series of successful and award-winning projects, ranging from large-scale masterplans to smaller bespoke buildings. A number of Carl’s current projects are operating at the forefront of residential design innovation including pre-fabricated modular homes, large scale custom-build communities and regeneration projects imaginatively integrating homes alongside workplaces, leisure, education and retail.
Carl promotes design quality throughout the practice. He set up PTE’s weekly design review which has become known as the ‘Sounding Wall’ – a place, an event, and a part of the practice-wide culture of peer review.
Carl is a judge for World Architecture News residential projects, a Design Advisor for the Royal Borough of Greenwich and is a member of the Essex Design Review Panel. He has also been a visiting critic and lecturer at The Bartlett - UCL, London Metropolitan and London Southbank universities.
